Rayvenn Shaleigha D’Clark achieved an MA Fine Art, Chelsea College of Arts 2018

In a culture where the dimensional restrictions of figurative art are increasingly being pushed to its outer limits on the new virtual platform afforded by the internet and digital technologies, Rayvenn considers herself to be a sculptor from a new generation of artists who increasingly rely upon technology as a sculptural tool.

The techniques Rayvenn employs alongside several prosthetic/VFX materials and 3-dimensional printing technologies are used in the creation of replicas of reality, reminiscent of the virtual world, yet possessing an aesthetic that bears the marks of all the manipulations the work has been subject to through its lifespan; demonstrating the flux between the handmade ‘original’ and the artificial ‘copy’.

Awards and residencies:

Cowling and Wilcox Featured Artists 2016;
Social Mobility Foundation Aspiring Professional Programme 2012;
Jack Petchy Award 2012

Quote “I hope that audiences gain a better understanding of the predicament that contemporary sculpture has found itself in; increasingly at odds against the threat that computer generate and simulated objects pose against the traditional goal of sculpture – in its ability to preserve.”
